New Changan Deepal S05: Fully electric 'C+' SUV as an intelligent and stylishly dynamic everyday companion

Saalfelden, Austria – Stylish and dynamic design, advanced electric drive and a complete package of intelligent and forward-looking infotainment and safety systems: its harmonious overall package makes the Changan Deepal S05, developed specifically for the requirements of European customers, a versatile everyday companion in every season. With its genes from the Changan Design Center Europe in Turin and the Changan R&D Centre in Birmingham, the forward-looking 'C+' SUV appeals particularly to customers with an affinity for design and technology.

The design of the Changan Deepal S05 is award-winning: in 2025, it received the prestigious iF Design Award. Clean lines, a wide track, flared wheel arches and a sporty, dynamic silhouette give the 4,598-millimetre-long, 1,900-millimetre-wide and 1,600-millimetre-high five-door 'C+' SUV a confident presence. Frameless windows, flush-mounted door handles and the active radiator grille optimise aerodynamics and efficiency. With a drag coefficient of just 0.25, the Deepal S05, which celebrated its European debut in September at the IAA Mobility in Munich, sets new standards in its class.

Comprehensive connectivity and plenty of space for everyday life

The Changan Deepal S05 blends comfort with sustainability through the utilisation of high-quality materials, including vegan leather for the seats and steering wheel. At the heart of the clearly structured interior is the 15.4-inch 2.5K touchscreen, which serves as the central control element for vehicle and infotainment functions. The display tilts 15 degrees toward the front occupants to reduce reflections and perfect the cabin’s ergonomics. Depending on the equipment package, the Deepal S05 also offers an augmented reality head-up display (AR–HUD) for online navigation. Over-the-air (OTA) updates as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto ensure comprehensive connectivity. In addition, the powerful MyChangan app supports remote functions such as vehicle access and charging and climate management, including preconditioning.

A 2,880-millimetre wheelbase creates impressive legroom in the Changan Deepal S05. Depending on the equipment, a 1.9-square-metre panoramic glass roof enhances the feeling of open space. The variable luggage compartment concept with 492 to 1,250 litres of loading volume and an additional frunk with a capacity of up to 159 litres underline its suitability for everyday use. For even larger loads, the fully electric 'C+' SUV is recommended as a powerful towing vehicle: with the optional removable tow bar, it can pull trailers or caravans weighing up to 1.6 tonnes.

Snow Mode delivers enhanced control on snow and ice

The Deepal S05 is available with rear-wheel drive (RWD) or intelligent all-wheel drive (AWD). Both variants are exceptionally efficient and agile, with the advantages of intelligent all-wheel drive being particularly noticeable on wet or winter roads. Multiple driving modes tailor the experience for safety and engagement. The Changan Deepal S05 AWD features a dedicated Snow Mode which optimises power distribution in real-time to ensure maximum traction and stability on icy roads.

The powerful permanently excited synchronous electric motor on the rear axle of the Changan Deepal S05 delivers a maximum power output of 200 kW (272 PS) and a torque of 290 Nm. Its noticeable elasticity and pronounced agility make every journey a delightful experience. In the Deepal S05 AWD, an additional asynchronous electric motor on the front axle with 120 kW (163 PS) of power and 212 Nm of peak torque ensures even more driving pleasure and temperament.

Particularly safe and fast charging: the 68.8 kWh LFP high-voltage battery

The energy is supplied by a 68.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate high-voltage battery (LFP battery). It impresses with its high thermal stability, outstanding durability and the extensive avoidance of costly and environmentally harmful components through the conscious use of materials. Up to 200 kW charging power at the DC fast charging station reduces the charging time in the Changan Deepal S05 to a minimum. In just 15 minutes, the battery is charged from 30 to 80 per cent. At the AC charging station, the Deepal S05 charges with up to 11 kW charging power. Energy Interaction Ring Lights on the Deepal S05’s C-pillar inform the driver of the current charging status before they even get in. Thanks to the Vehicle-to-Load function (V2L), the ‘C+’ SUV also shows its particularly flexible side: with up to 6 kW charging power, the vehicle provides energy for external consumers.

The active radiator grille, which closes at high speeds, further contributes to the Changan Deepal S05’s excellent aerodynamics and efficiency. In addition, the standard heat pump and pulse battery heating noticeably optimise the range in everyday use: With rear-wheel drive, the vehicle consumes only 15.9 kWh of electricity per 100 kilometres in the WLTP cycle, giving it a range of up to 485 kilometres on a single battery charge. The even more powerful all-wheel-drive version with two electric motors achieves a top range of 445 kilometres with a power consumption of 17.5 kWh per 100 kilometres.

The Changan Deepal S05 also delivers reliable range in winter, recently securing one of the top spots in the Norwegian Automobile Federation (NAF)’s ‘El Prix’ practical. Even in extreme conditions, with temperatures between -8°C and -31°C, the Changan Deepal S05 AWD still achieved 66 per cent of its WLTP range.

17 pioneering advanced driver assistance systems as standard and a five-star maximum rating in the Euro NCAP crash test

Regardless of the equipment package selected, the Changan Deepal S05 comes standard with 17 intelligent and pioneering advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) that enable camera- and sensor-supported autonomous driving at Level 2. These include Integrated Adaptive Cruise Control (IACC) with Car Follow and Stop & Go, Advanced Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Blind Spot Detection (BSD) and cross traffic functions, and a driver monitoring system.

The Changan Deepal S05’s safety credentials were underscored when it earned a maximum five-star rating in the Euro NCAP safety test, with very strong results for adult occupant protection and child safety.

In addition, Changan provides comprehensive coverage and long-term peace of mind for customers by offering a vehicle warranty of seven years or 160,000 kilometres, and a battery warranty of eight years or 200,000 kilometres.
