Momentum builds: Changan’s European journey picks up pace
CHANGAN EUROPE PRESS INFORMATION
Munich – Under the motto “In Europe, for Europe”, Changan will be present in more than ten European markets by the end of the year. The company’s expansion strategy is built on products tailored to local customer preferences in European design and development centres, a robust sales and service network, and customer-focused service offerings.
Changan is rapidly expanding its footprint in Europe. The Chinese automaker is currently presented at 86 sales and service locations across eight European countries. By the end of 2025, Changan plans to be present in a total of more than ten European markets, including Italy and Spain.
“Our goal is clear,” says Ethan Yin, Executive Deputy General Manager of Changan Europe Business Unit. “We want to meet European customer expectations with high-quality products tailored to local needs. To achieve this, we are making long-term investments in design, engineering, staff and partnerships on the ground.”
By 2030, Changan will invest more than two billion Euros in its European business. In the same year, the company plans to have over 1,000 sales and service outlets in Europe. By that date, Changan also intends to have recruited over 1,000 local employees.
At the end of August, Autohaus Günther in Halstenbek near Hamburg opened the first Changan showroom in Germany. In the UK, 20 Changan locations will open to customers in mid-September, with Lookers Star City in Birmingham serving as the nationwide flagship store. An additional 30 sales and service locations will be added in the UK by the end of 2025.
In Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK, Changan operates its own import subsidiaries and plans to expand this number to five by the end of 2025, adding Italy and Spain. In other European markets, distribution is managed by regional importers, including Autohellas in Greece, Motorgruppen in Norway, Auto-Industrial Group in Portugal, and OMR in the Western Balkans. For Denmark, an agreement with an import partner is scheduled to be signed on September 9 at the IAA Mobility show in Munich. At the same event, the company will also finalize agreements with several new retail partners across various European countries such as Germany, Italy and Spain.

Solid service ecosystem working in cooperation with leading European partners
As part of building its network, Changan is investing heavily in service infrastructure for its dealer and service partners. The company’s parts distribution centres in the Netherlands and the UK, operated jointly with logistics company Kühne + Nagel, ensure fast and reliable parts availability across the region.
To deliver modern and flexible financing and leasing products, Changan collaborates closely with leading European financial services providers such as BNP Paribas and will be able to announce further details very soon. The company also plans to launch a partnership with Allianz Partners for roadside assistance, with an MoU already in place. In all core markets, local teams support Changan’s dealer and service partners with marketing, sales, and aftersales questions.
Local design and development centres for European Changan products
Changan benefits from its longstanding presence in Europe. The company has operated regional design and development centres on the continent for many years. The Changan European Design Centre in Turin was opened in 2001, while the R&D Centre was opened in 2010 and is now based in Birmingham. This local expertise, together with extensive testing and validation, enables precise product adaptations for European customers. At both locations, Changan has established training centres for dealers as well, providing consistent and modern sales and service training, complemented by a comprehensive offering of online courses.
In Europe, Changan’s product portfolio will include both battery-electric vehicles and electrified vehicles such as plug-in hybrids. The first battery-electric vehicles are the D-segment SUV Changan Deepal S07 and the C-SUV Changan Deepal S05, which celebrated its European debut at the IAA Mobility in Munich. The Deepal S07 alone has been adapted in more than 150 ways to meet European customer preferences. In the Euro NCAP crash testing, it achieved the top five-star rating. By the end of 2027, Changan will have introduced eight models in Europe.
