Munich – The Changan Deepal S05 has achieved the highest possible safety rating in the Euro NCAP crash test, earning five stars overall. The all-electric “C+” SUV demonstrated exceptional safety performance across all four test categories. The Deepal S05 scored 94 per cent in the “Adult Occupant” category, 87 per cent in the “Child Occupant” category, 78 per cent in the “Vulnerable Road Users” category, and 76 per cent in the “Safety Assist” category.

“Meeting the highest safety standards is essential when developing new Changan models,” says Ethan Yin, Executive Deputy General Manager of Changan Europe. “The five-star Euro NCAP rating for the Deepal S05 confirms our approach.” In 2024, the Changan Deepal S07, positioned in the D-SUV segment, received a five-star Euro NCAP rating.

Changan Deepal S05 achieves outstanding child safety ratings

The Deepal S05 performs particularly well in occupant protection. With a score of 94 per cent for adult occupant protection, including full marks in the side impact test, it ranks among the best results in its segment and sets a new safety benchmark for Chinese brands. In a frontal collision, the passenger compartment remains stable, providing consistent protection regardless of occupant size or seating position.

Child safety is another key strength of the Changan Deepal S05. In both frontal and side impact tests, the “C+” SUV achieves the maximum score with crash test dummies representing six- to ten-year-old children. An alert system warns parents if a child is left in the vehicle. Isofix and i-Size anchorage points are available at multiple seating positions, and easy installation was confirmed for all child restraint systems tested.

17 intelligent and future-ready driver assistance systems as a standard

The Changan Deepal S05 celebrated its European premiere at IAA Mobility 2025 this September. With its elegant, modern design and advanced technology package, the all-electric SUV combines efficiency, comfort, and performance. At 4,598-millimetres long, the “C+” SUV combines design input from Changan’s Design Center in Turin with engineering expertise from the Research and Development Center in Birmingham.

Regardless of the chosen equipment package, the Deepal S05 comes equipped as standard with 17 intelligent and future-ready driver assistance systems enabling autonomous driving level 2. A total of 14 sensors surround the vehicle, including 6 ultrasonic radars, 3 millimetre-wave radars, 4 exterior surround-view cameras, 1hd-camera. Together, this leads to comprehensive accident prevention.

Rear-wheel or all-wheel drive for the fully electric “C+” SUV

A drag coefficient of just 0.25 supports the model’s aerodynamic efficiency and range. The 68.8-kWh lithium iron phosphate battery provides a range of up to 485 kilometres. At fast-charging DC stations, the Deepal S05 supports charging capacities of up to 200 kW. This allows the battery to charge from 30 to 80 per cent in 15 minutes. AC charging is available at up to 11 kW.

The Deepal S05 is available with rear-wheel drive (RWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). In the RWD version, a permanently excited synchronous motor on the rear axle delivers 200 kW of power and 290 Nm of torque. The AWD variant adds an asynchronous electric motor on the front axle, providing an additional 120 kW and 212 Nm of torque for enhanced traction and performance.

A 2,880-millimetre wheelbase ensures generous interior space. The luggage compartment offers 492 to 1,250 litres of cargo space, complemented by a frunk providing up to an additional 159 litres of space. This provides practical storage for everyday use, travel, or charging equipment.

At the same time Changan Deepal S05´s iF Design Award-winning design combines small details into a cohesive, harmonious whole, giving Changan's all-electric “C+” SUV an elegant and forward-looking appearance. In this way, the Deepal S05 proves that safety for passengers as well as road users and elegant appearance are not mutually exclusive.
